What does over the hill even mean? I understand the allegory to climbing a hill reaching the top and then continuing down the far side. But the imagery is all wrong. The climb up is the hard part. The way down is the easy part. So being over the hill should be an exciting and happy moment in your life. Doesn't seem to be the way people think about it. It's like your life ends at 40. If you have done anything fun by then, then you might as well give up and go live in a smelly apartment with a bunch of cats and watch woody allen movies. I do not think this is true. I honestly think that my 40's are going to be the coolest years of my life. I mean so far my 30's have been better than my 20's. and my 20's were better than my teens. So why the hell should I NOT look forward to turning 40? I still have time, I am only turning 35 this year. But having my podcast turn 40, in a matter of speaking, sent my brain wandering down that path.

Although I may still have a midllife crisis just becuase they look so damn fun!!

Can I Get An Amen? is an audio installation that unfolds a critical perspective of perhaps the most sampled drum beat in the history of recorded music, the Amen Break. It begins with the pop track Amen Brother by 60's soul band The Winstons, and traces the transformation of their drum solo from its original context as part of a 'B' side vinyl single into its use as a key aural ingredient in contemporary cultural expression. The work attempts to bring into scrutiny the techno-utopian notion that 'information wants to be free'- it questions its effectiveness as a democratizing agent. This as well as other issues are foregrounded through a history of the Amen Break and its peculiar relationship to current copyright law.

In this spiffy satire on Fifties health films, the neighborhood boy starts experimenting with cannibalism, and it prompts pipe-smoking Mr. Becker to have a nice father-son chat with his strapping teenage boy. Evangelatos' line-drawn cartoon is a great example of how a simple, goofy toss-off can find a home online.

Thousands of spectators gathered Saturday to watch the demolition of the city's tallest building â but the Zip Feed Mill tower was no pushover. The 202-foot-tall concrete structure dropped slightly, leaned a little â and stopped. Onlookers at viewing spots all over downtown groaned and laughed.
